These varieties were selected and shared by Taiwan Banana Research Institute (TBRI) to Bioversity in the framework of BAPNET collaboration. Dr. Agustin Molina, BAPNET Regional Coordinator for Asia & Pacific of Bioversity International, led a public-private research programme in adapting GCTCV 219 and 218 in the Philippines, collaborating with the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research, DA-Region 11, UP Los Baños, PCAARRD, University of SouthEastern Phil (USEP), Bureau of Plant Undustry – Davao City, Lapanday Agriculture Development Corporation, banana growers & exporters association in the Philippines (PBGEA & MBFEA) and small farmers association, and now out scaled by the Department of Agriculture.
